OPEN 2018 Exhibition - Royal Scottish Academy

Simply delighted to have two paintings in this exhibition, which continues at The Royal Scottish Academy until the 8th March 2018.

Here are a few pictures from my visits to the show, and of my work in situ.

The SSA describe the show:

Two of Scotland’s leading arts organisations, the Society of Scottish Artists and Visual Arts Scotland have joined forces for the first time to present an ambitious collaborative exhibition celebrating the best in contemporary and applied art.

Featuring established artists and makers based in Scotland and internationally and new artists, the exhibition is a unique survey of the diversity of contemporary and applied art being created today.

Set alongside a number of curated elements, the exhibition will present works by over 166 artists selected from an open call that attracted over 2000 artwork submissions from across the world.

The Moonshine War - Opening Night, 6th August at 7pm

Do join us for the opening night of The Moonshine War, an exhibition of large works on paper by the eclectic arts collective Esbat.   Join us this Saturday 6th August at 7pm, at Otherworld Books, 50 Dalry Road, featuring live poetry and music.

The Moonshine War is an imaginative and fantastical exploration of subjects concerning the moon and it's influence on our lives.  In these large format pictures can be seen dream like distortions, prophetic narratives, fear weighed against enlightenment.

The familiar is made extraordinary in the world of shadows and night.

Otherworld Books are kindly hosting the show for the month of August, open Tuesday - Saturday from 10am - 5.30pm until the 31st.

City Primeval - Opening Friday 17th June at 6pm

Delighted to have work in this group show, from the Esbat Collective at Coburg House.

City Primeval is a multi-disciplinary exploration of two worlds - the sophisticated and the wild, binary opposites which cannot exist without each other. The aim of the work is to reflect the constant tension between the civilised and primitive aspects of our nature.

The work is inspired by the pursuit of true satisfaction amidst the transitory temptations of the city, and how it can be found (or lost) in the experience of human closeness, friendship and companionship, but also in knowledge of one's own limitations.
